2010 is the year of Biodiversity, which is a testament to importance of its preservation in current times.
The biodiversity of aquatic ecosystems has been studied for several decades in order to gain a better understanding of the quality of these environments. The use of such tools, coined “bio-indication” tools, is gaining more and more importance worldwide, especially as a consequence of European legislation.
The Environmental Directorate of Martinique and Asconit Consultants have partnered to organise a lesson-sharing seminar around bio-indication in the context of tropical freshwater ecosystems, which is planned to take place in Martinique on 1-3 December 2010.
Are invited to attend organisations working on aquatic ecosystems in the French overseas territories, French and European partners, whose experience, whether in tropical countries or elsewhere, can highlight interesting case studies and lessons. We also welcome representatives of the Caribbean countries to participate, whose rules and legislation are different, but who share with Martinique and other French overseas territories, the same critical challenge of biodiversity preservation. |
